Nali'bali breaks literacy barriers in its target provinces
We identified that almost half of SA’s children live in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo combined and a further 20% of the country’s children live in Gauteng. We proactively target areas with the highest child populations with the intention to reach a tipping point in these areas.

were in the Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo provinces.
Highlights from campaigns held in 2018:
We increased our staff in both Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape’s Lesedi project.
57% of all people that received training were based in the Eastern Cape.
Nali’bali experienced many partnership requests in KwaZulu-Natal following already established brand awareness in this province.
Limpopo had the second highest number of children in reading clubs and 62% of the 518 reading clubs, were newly registered.
Gauteng had 556 active reading clubs of which 43% were newly registered.
