We proactively target areas with the highest child populations with the intention to reach a tipping point in these areas. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/report.nalibali.org\/2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/icon-children.png\" alt=\"icon-children\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"157\" width=\"144\" title=\"icon-children\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n\t<p>74% of the 94 941 children reached<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/report.nalibali.org\/2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/icon-training.png\" alt=\"icon-training\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"157\" width=\"144\" title=\"icon-training\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n\t<p>65% of the 3 431 people who received training<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/report.nalibali.org\/2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/icon-reading.png\" alt=\"icon-reading\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"157\" width=\"144\" title=\"icon-reading\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n\t<p>71% of the 3 044 reading clubs were active<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/report.nalibali.org\/2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/icon-events.png\" alt=\"icon-events\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"157\" width=\"144\" title=\"icon-events\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n\t<p>70% of the 879 events hosted by Nali\u2019bali<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/report.nalibali.org\/2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/icon-people.png\" alt=\"icon-people\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"157\" width=\"144\" title=\"icon-people\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n\t<p>53% of the 78 162 people reached though our events<\/p>\n\t<p>were in the Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo provinces.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\tDuring the second half of 2018, the Nali\u2019bali team achieved the following milestones:\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><b>More organisations approached NalI\u2019bali for partnerships,<\/b> which indicates an appreciation for our programme and allowed for a more efficient implementation of our programme.<\/p>\n\t<p>The implementation team participated in a <b>project management course<\/b> to strengthen their ability to manage and sustain these partnerships. <\/p>\n\t<p>A <b>billboard campaign was implemented from September 2018 to June 2019 in key provinces,<\/b> with 95% of sites located in our focus province.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\tHighlights from campaigns held in 2018:\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>We increased our staff in both Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape\u2019s Lesedi project.<\/p>\n\t<p>57% of all people that received training were based in the Eastern Cape. <\/p>\n\t<p>Nali\u2019bali experienced many partnership requests in KwaZulu-Natal following already established brand awareness in this province.<\/p>\n\t<p>Limpopo had the second highest number of children in reading clubs and 62% of the 518 reading clubs, were newly registered.<\/p>\n\t<p>Gauteng had 556 active reading clubs of which 43% were newly registered. <\/p>\n\t<p><i>Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/report.nalibali.org\/2018\/nalibalis-deep-dive-into-kwazulu-natal-reveals-exciting-opportunities\/\">this link<\/a> to see the underlying data that was used to help us determine which provinces and districts we would focus our energies on<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHAPTER 1: Nali&#8217;bali breaks literacy barriers in its target provinces We identified that almost half of SA\u2019s children live in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo combined and a further 20% of the country\u2019s children live in Gauteng.
